Buttstock is an annual event that is run by "Get Off Your Butts MCC" based in Staffordshire, UK. The event attracts nearly 2000 people and runs for 3 days and 2 nights. The event is held at Burntwood Rugby Club, The Sportsway, Chasetown, Burntwood.
Our brief for this event was to provide front of house sound and stage monitoring for multiple bands/artists that would be playing at the event. A basic light system was also required. Primarily this event was to be 2 bands on Friday and 3 bands on Saturday. An extra band was added to the Saturday line up which we handled without problem.
We arrived on Thursday afternoon to begin installing our system. We had been assigned the marquee tent for the event which measured approximately 40ft x 300ft. The event organisors has supplied the stage with a ground clearance of around 20 inches. This enabled us to run our cabling beneath the stage. Power was supplied by a large outdoor 3 phase Caterpillar generator.
For this sized event we installed our 8K EV system as front of house PA. 9 stage monitors were selected and positioned on the stage with a 6 way monitor mix. Drum kits were fully mic'd aswell as guitar cabs. All bass rigs were DI'd as were any keyboards. All monitors were assigned a 31-band graphic equaliser and then eq'd to reduce feedback. A real time analyser microphone was also positioned in the venue to monitor F.O.H EQ and levels.
